AnyWho is one of the oldest free directories on the web — it started life in the late 1990s as an AT&T online phone book — but the site you see today doesn't run on its own database. AnyWho is powered by Spokeo, and that changes where your opt-out actually happens: there is no AnyWho removal form. The site's own footer link, "Do Not Sell My Info," goes straight to Spokeo's opt-out page, which means removing yourself from AnyWho is really a Spokeo opt-out with an extra verification step at the end. One warning before you start: older guides route AnyWho removals through Intelius or PeopleConnect's suppression center, because that's who supplied AnyWho's data in years past. That route no longer matches how the site works — following it will remove you from Intelius, which is worth doing anyway, but it won't touch your AnyWho listing.
Confirm you're listed on AnyWho
Go to anywho.com and search your name. If nothing comes up, you're done here — though it's worth trying name variants (middle initial, maiden name) before closing the tab. If a listing does appear, note the details shown — age, city, relatives — because you'll use them to find the matching record on Spokeo in the next step.
Find the matching profile on Spokeo
Since AnyWho's data comes from Spokeo, the record you need to remove lives at spokeo.com. Search your name there and open the profile that matches what AnyWho showed you — same age range, same cities, same relatives. If a name search comes up empty, try searching by your phone number or a current or former address instead; Spokeo indexes all three.
Copy the Spokeo profile URL
Once you're on the profile that's you, copy the full URL from your browser's address bar. Spokeo's opt-out form identifies the listing by this URL, not by your typed name — so it has to be the exact profile page, not the search-results page.
Submit the opt-out at Spokeo
Go to spokeo.com/optout — the same page AnyWho's own "Do Not Sell My Info" footer link points to. Paste in the profile URL you copied, enter an email address you actually check, and complete the CAPTCHA before submitting. No account, no fee, no ID upload.
Confirm by email
Spokeo sends a confirmation email within minutes — check your inbox and spam folder for a message from noreply@spokeo.com and click the confirmation link inside it. The request isn't finalized until you do, and the link expires if it sits too long, which means starting over.
Check AnyWho after a few days
Spokeo's opt-out page states that requests are processed within 24–48 hours. AnyWho pulls from Spokeo's database, so your AnyWho listing typically disappears within a few days of the Spokeo removal going through — it may lag slightly behind Spokeo's own site. After that window, search your name on both sites. If Spokeo shows "No Results Found" but AnyWho still lists you after a week or so, re-check that you removed the right Spokeo profile; multiple profiles under slightly different name spellings or old addresses are common, and each one needs its own opt-out.
Why it's worth checking back
A removal here clears what's visible today, but Spokeo restocks its database from new public-records feeds on an ongoing basis — and whatever reappears on Spokeo flows right back into AnyWho. A new address, a new phone number, or a record from a source Spokeo didn't have before can relist you on both sites months after a successful opt-out. There's also no guarantee the supplier relationship stays put: AnyWho has already switched data providers at least once, which is exactly why those older Intelius-based guides went stale.
