Spokeo is one of the most-searched people-search sites out there, pulling together social media links, marriage and divorce records, and phone and address history into a name-based profile that tends to rank near the top of Google when someone searches you — which is usually how people first discover they're listed. The removal process itself is refreshingly uncomplicated for a broker this size: no phone call, no ID upload, no notarized letter, just a form and a confirmation email. The catch is that Spokeo tends to generate more than one profile per person, so "opting out" often means doing this more than once.
Step 1: Find your listing
Search your name at spokeo.com — if a name search comes up empty, you can also search by phone number, address, or email. Spokeo's results page shows a scrollable list of possible matches; open the one that's actually you and cross-check the age, city, and relatives listed to confirm. Spokeo shows a fair amount of information for free and holds the rest behind a paid report, but you don't need to pay for anything to opt out.
Step 2: Copy the profile URL
Once you're on the profile that's you, copy the full URL from your browser's address bar. As with most people-search removals, this URL is how Spokeo identifies exactly which listing to pull — not your name.
Step 3: Submit the opt-out request
Go to spokeo.com/optout — you can also reach it from the site's footer link, "Do Not Sell My Info." Paste in the profile URL, enter an email address you can access, and complete the CAPTCHA before the form will let you submit.
Step 4: Confirm by email
Spokeo sends a confirmation email within minutes of submitting — check your inbox and spam folder for a message from noreply@spokeo.com. Click the confirmation link inside it; the request isn't finalized until you do, and letting it sit too long typically means starting over.
Step 5: Wait and check back
Spokeo states that confirmed requests process within 72 hours, though many clear sooner. After a few days, revisit the profile URL you saved — a successfully removed listing shows "No Results Found."
If you have more than one listing
Spokeo frequently generates separate profiles for the same person tied to different email addresses, phone numbers, or slightly different name spellings and old addresses. Removing one doesn't touch the others, so it's worth searching by name and then again by any emails or numbers associated with you, repeating steps 1–4 for each match you find.

Spokeo periodically refreshes its database from new public-records feeds, and it's common for a removed listing to quietly reappear months later once new information about you enters circulation.
