The terms that govern your use of Delist My Data.
Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Delist My Data (accessible from https://delistmydata.com), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. Creating an account is your acceptance of both. If you do not agree, please don't use the site.
What Delist My Data Is, Today
Delist My Data is open for accounts by invitation. An invitation code admits one account, expires if it isn't used, and may be tied to a single email address. Creating an account is free and is not a paid subscription: you add the names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses you want searched, and we search the data broker and people-search sites we track for listings that match you and show you what we find — including a picture of each listing and a report you can download. Automated filing of the removals themselves is being rolled out in stages, and an account does not yet entitle you to it. These Terms will be updated to describe that service specifically as it opens, and you'll be notified before any change that affects how your data is used.
Your Account
- One person, one account. An account is for you. Don't create one for someone else, and don't let anyone else use yours.
- Keep it secure. You are responsible for the password on your account and for anything done while signed in with it. Tell us at once if you believe someone else has used it.
- Confirm your email first. Your account won't accept names, dates of birth, addresses or phone numbers until the email address on it has been confirmed.
- Tell us the truth. The details you add must be accurate and must be about you, or about a person you are legally entitled to act for. We search and file on the basis of what you tell us, and we can't protect the right listing with the wrong details.
Authorising Us to Act for You
Before we file any removal request on your behalf, you sign an authorization in your account appointing Delist My Data as your agent for that purpose. It is an ordinary signed permission, not a power of attorney: it lets us ask data brokers and people-search sites to delete, suppress, or stop selling your personal information, give them only the details a given request needs, and handle their replies — and nothing else. It does not let us enter contracts for you, bring proceedings in your name, or act on anything other than removing your personal information.
You can withdraw the authorization from your account at any time, and we stop filing new requests for you when you do. Requests already made stay on record, together with the authorization they were made under, because a broker may ask long after the fact on whose authority a request was filed, and the signed record is the only honest answer.
Reviewing Your Results
While Delist My Data is in invited early release, your account carries a setting that lets our team review your scan and removal results, along with the details you entered for us to search on, so we can work out why a scan did badly and fix it. It starts switched on, and you can switch it off on your account page whenever you like.
Someone reviewing your account can look at it and cannot act in it. Nothing is started, filed, changed, or withdrawn on your behalf. Nothing financial is ever involved, because we collect none. Every review is recorded and shown to you on your own account page. Our Privacy Policy sets out what this covers in detail.
Fees
Delist My Data is free today. We collect no payment details, and nothing about an account today creates a charge. If we introduce fees for any part of the service, we will tell you in advance and nothing will be charged without your express agreement.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Delist My Data or to submit information on behalf of yourself. Do not submit another person's personal information without their knowledge and consent, except where you are legally authorized to act on their behalf (for example, as a parent or legal guardian).
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use Delist My Data to search for or submit removal requests about information that isn't your own, absent proper authorization.
- Sell, trade, or publish an invitation code, or attempt to reuse one that has already admitted an account.
- Scrape, crawl, or run automated tools against the service, or attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to it or its infrastructure.
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose.
No Guarantee of Outcomes
Data brokers control their own sites and removal processes, which change without notice, and listings can reappear after a successful removal if a broker re-collects the same information. We do our best to find and remove your listings and to notice when they come back, but we cannot guarantee any particular broker will honor a removal request, that a removal will be permanent, that we will detect every listing that exists about you, or how long a search or a removal will take.
Disclaimer of Warranties
Delist My Data is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Delist My Data and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service.
Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms, or where we reasonably believe it is being used to harm someone else. You may close your account at any time by emailing contact@delistmydata.com — there is no self-service button yet, and we'll say so here when there is. When an account closes we delete its data as described in the Privacy Policy, keeping only what that policy says we keep.
Changes to the Service and These Terms
We may modify or discontinue any part of Delist My Data at any time. We may update these Terms periodically; when we make material changes, we'll update the "Last Updated" date above and, where feasible, notify you by email. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
