Intelius is a background-check and people-search site that packages public records, court records, and contact history into a searchable report — the kind of thing that turns up when someone runs your name before a first date, a rental application, or just out of curiosity. It's owned by PeopleConnect, the same company behind TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, and several other people-search brands, and that ownership actually works in your favor here: a single removal request handles more than one site at once. The catch is that reaching the actual suppression form takes a few more clicks than most, and the final identity check trips people up if they've changed phone numbers or email addresses since Intelius first picked up their record.
Step 1: Start the request from Intelius's Privacy Center
Go to intelius.com, scroll to the footer, and click "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" (sometimes labeled "Exercise My Data Privacy Rights"). From there, click "View public data tools," then "Manage my suppression rules." This hands you off to the PeopleConnect Suppression Center — the shared removal hub Intelius runs with its sister companies. You can also skip the menu-hopping and go straight to suppression.peopleconnect.us/login.
Step 2: Verify your email
Enter the email address you want tied to the request and agree to the terms. PeopleConnect sends a verification email — open it and click "Verify email" within about 15 minutes, or the link expires and you'll need to restart the request.
Step 3: Enter your date of birth and legal name
Back in the suppression tool, enter your date of birth and confirm the verification checkbox. Then enter your first, middle (if you have one), and last name as they'd appear on public records, and confirm it's your legal name.
Step 4: Select your profile
Intelius will show a list of possible matches. Pick the one that's actually you, using age, city history, or listed relatives to tell it apart from similarly-named people. If more than one listing matches you, note it now — you'll need to repeat this process for each.
Step 5: Verify your identity
This is the step most people get stuck on. PeopleConnect sends a verification code to a phone number or email address it already has on file for that specific record — which isn't necessarily the email you just used to start the request. If that's still an account you can access, enter the code and continue. If it isn't — an old phone number, a closed email account — the online form doesn't offer a fallback; you'll need to reach PeopleConnect support directly at privacy@peopleconnect.us or by phone at (877) 564-3253 to verify another way.
Step 6: Set the record to "Suppressed" and save
Once you're verified, find the "Desired Behavior" setting on your record, change it to "Suppressed," and click "Save." There's no separate confirmation email that follows — the suppressed status shown on screen is your confirmation that the request went through.
The PeopleConnect family: one request, several sites — but not all of them
Because Intelius, TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, and US Search all run on the same PeopleConnect backend, a single suppression submitted through this portal is generally reported to clear your record across all four. That's a real time-saver compared to filing separate requests everywhere. What it doesn't reliably cover is MyLife, which PeopleConnect also owns but which runs its own, separate removal process — treat that one as a request of its own rather than assuming this form takes care of it.
If you have more than one listing
Multiple listings usually mean multiple addresses, name variations, or public-records sources feeding in separately. The suppression tool handles one record at a time, so repeat Steps 4 through 6 for each match you find under your name — including with and without a middle initial, and any maiden or former names.
Why it's worth checking back
Suppressing a record with PeopleConnect stops that specific listing from showing — it doesn't stop Intelius from pulling in a new one. As new public-records data gets licensed and matched to your name, a fresh profile can appear months later even though the one you removed stays gone. That's the piece a one-time opt-out can't solve: it's not that the removal fails, it's that the underlying data pipeline keeps running.
That ongoing recheck is exactly what DelistMyData is built to automate — filing the removal once, then watching for you to reappear on Intelius and its sister sites and filing it again, without you having to remember to look.
