TruthFinder sells background-check reports built from public records, and like a lot of sites in that space, it doesn't run its own standalone opt-out form. TruthFinder is owned by PeopleConnect, the same company behind Intelius, US Search, and Instant Checkmate — so removal happens through PeopleConnect's shared Suppression Center rather than anything specific to the TruthFinder site itself. The upside of that setup: one completed request suppresses your record across all four properties at once, not just TruthFinder.
Step 1: Get to the Suppression Center
Go directly to suppression.peopleconnect.us. You can also reach it from truthfinder.com itself: scroll to the footer, click "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information," then "View Public Data Tools," then "Manage My Suppression Rules" — but the direct link skips all of that.
Step 2: Enter your email and verify it
Enter your email address, agree to the terms, and continue. PeopleConnect sends a confirmation email — click the link inside it before moving on. Nothing else on the form works until this step is confirmed.
Step 3: Enter your name and date of birth
Provide your full legal name and birthdate, plus any alternate names on record. Double-check this before continuing — PeopleConnect's own form warns that the date of birth can't be changed once submitted.
Step 4: Find and select your record
The tool shows possible matches based on what you entered. Match by name, age, and location, then select the one that's you. If you don't see a match, try adding an alternate name or previous city.
Step 5: Verify your identity again
Choose email or phone for a second verification step, enter the code you're sent, and continue. This second check confirms you're the person requesting suppression of that specific record, not just someone with the same name.
Step 6: Set the record to Suppressed
On the final screen, choose "Suppressed" from the "Desired Behavior" dropdown and save. PeopleConnect states suppression requests are processed within 48 hours — search your name on TruthFinder again after a couple of days to confirm the listing is gone.
What this does and doesn't cover
Because TruthFinder, Intelius, US Search, and Instant Checkmate all pull from the same PeopleConnect backend, a single suppression request clears your record across all four at once — a real time-saver compared to most brokers, which each require a separate submission. What it doesn't do is touch anything outside the PeopleConnect network: Whitepages, Spokeo, MyLife, and the rest are entirely separate companies with their own opt-out processes, so this one request isn't a shortcut for the industry as a whole.
Why it's worth checking back
Suppression through PeopleConnect stops that specific record from displaying, but it doesn't stop new public-records data from being ingested under your name later — a new address or a record from a source PeopleConnect didn't previously have can result in a fresh listing that isn't covered by your earlier suppression request.
