Step 2: Search for your listing
Enter your first and last name, along with a state if you know it, and run the search. BeenVerified will return a list of possible matches, often with an age range and past cities attached. Find the entry that matches you.
Step 3: Start the opt-out
Click "Proceed to Opt Out" on your listing. You'll be asked to enter an email address — this is where the confirmation link gets sent, so use one you check regularly.
Step 4: Complete the CAPTCHA and submit
Solve the CAPTCHA challenge and submit the request. This step exists to keep the opt-out queue from being spammed by bots rather than actual people removing their own data.
Step 5: Verify by email
Check your inbox for a message from BeenVerified and click the verification link inside it. This is the step that actually finalizes the request — without it, the opt-out doesn't process.
Step 6: Wait for removal
Once verified, most listings clear from both BeenVerified and PeopleLooker within 24 to 72 hours. If you've gone by more than one name — a maiden name, a nickname, a former legal name — search for those too, since PeopleLooker may have a separate listing under each one.
Why the BeenVerified connection matters
