BeenVerified is a background-check and people-search site that pulls together public records, social profiles, and contact history into a single searchable report — the kind of listing that shows up when someone types your name into Google along with an age, past addresses, and relatives. It's run by The Lifetime Value Co. (LTV), the same New York company behind PeopleLooker, Ownerly, NeighborWho, and a handful of other lookup sites — not the same corporate family as Whitepages, Intelius, or MyLife, even though the listings often look similar. The removal process itself is free and doesn't ask for ID, but it does route you through a CAPTCHA and an email confirmation, and it has to be repeated for every listing under your name.
Step 1: Open the opt-out search page
Go to beenverified.com/app/optout/search — you can also reach it from the BeenVerified homepage by scrolling to the footer and clicking "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information." Enter your first name, last name, and state, then search.
Step 2: Find your listing
BeenVerified returns a list of possible matches. Check the age and city listed next to each before picking — with a common name, several of these results won't be you. Once you've found the right one, click "Proceed to Opt Out" next to it.
Step 3: Enter your email and pass the CAPTCHA
You'll be asked for an email address and to solve a CAPTCHA before you can submit. This is the only identity check in the process — no phone number, no photo ID, no account required.
Step 4: Verify by email
Check your inbox for a message from BeenVerified with a "Verify Opt-Out" link. Click it — the request isn't actually filed until you do, and the link is only good for about 48 hours before you'd need to start over.
Step 5: Confirm and wait
Clicking the verification link lands you on a confirmation page. BeenVerified's own stated processing window is roughly 24–72 hours, though it can take longer for a listing to fully disappear from search — give it a few extra days before assuming the request didn't go through.
If you have more than one listing
BeenVerified generates separate records from separate data pulls, so it's common to have more than one listing under slightly different versions of your name — with and without a middle initial, a maiden name, or an old address. Removing one doesn't touch the others, so repeat steps 1–4 for each match you find. It's also worth noting that opting out only removes your public listing; if you ever signed up for a paid BeenVerified subscription, canceling that is a separate step handled through account settings or customer support, not the opt-out form.
Why it's worth checking back
BeenVerified rebuilds its records from new public-records feeds on an ongoing schedule, so an opt-out removes what's listed today without stopping the site from generating a fresh listing later from a new address, phone number, or court record. That's the piece a one-time removal can't solve by itself — it's a recurring check, not a single errand.
